A LITTLE HISTORY:
The Industrial Revolution (1790's-1860's) brought about many changes in thetextile industries. Bobbins, spools and the machinery they ran on were some of thegreatest inventions of the time. Bobbins & Spools were developed as a way to manageheaps of thread that were used in manufacturing textiles, and were used until mid-twentieth century when mills began using more modern equipment.
DESCRIPTION:
* These 2 spools were made of maple wood which was native to New England and used around 1920-1930s
* Bobbin-Spools which have prominent tops and bases and straight barrels are 'Twister Spools'
* They were used to twist 2,3 or 4 single yarns into plyed yarn which was woven to create textiles
* Craftedfrom industrial Textile Mill spools, these primitive candle holders feature intricate textured designs that exude a unique charm
* Both have loads of vintage patina, including dents, dings and scratches on their lovely worn barrels
* The shorter spool is banded with metal on both ends
