HERE\'S THE REAL STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY:
Friday January 27, 1984 began as an amazing day filled withexcitement?. As I said, ?I know becauseI WAS THERE? with all the Jackson\'s!!!!Michael was at the peak of his solo career and the concert tickets weregiven out free as ?Radio Giveaways?, so the audience was packed with thousandsof diehard Michael Jackson fans. I was backstage standing near the director whowas watching the five video monitors, as it was a five-camera shoot, when allhell broke loose. We were just beginningthe second take which unfortunately was the last take, when the director called?action?, the film was rolling and at that same moment all of a sudden themiddle video monitor stopped working...it went black. This was the monitorfocused on Michael\'s face. The othervideo monitors were focused on various stage shots. The next thing we knewthere was a commotion on stage and all of a sudden we saw lots of feet rushingin on the other video monitors? Atfirst, we thought the fans had rushed the stage, as we couldn?t see Michael\'shead on the blank monitor. We then looked over from behind the curtains andrealized that wasn?t the case?. And unfortunately?..the rest of the story ishistory.
We shot two different commercials during that period. We filmed the famous ?Concert? commercialsecond and the first commercial was ?New Generation?. That was the one with all the kids dancing inthe street. The lead young actor in thered jacket, Alfonso Ribeiro, grew up to star in the Fresh Prince of Bel Airwith Will Smith.
