Model 1863 CIVIL WAR Military ARTILLERY BIT Marked U.S. 3X, gilted US bosses For Sale

Model 1863 Civil War Artillery bit with gilt covered US bosses. This bit differs slightly from the 1861 model, and the quickest seen difference is the slot for the curb strap where just a small hole existed on the previous model for the metal clip of a curb chain. The bit is complete with the snaffle rein rings and the slobber bar, which often is missing.There is still some small remnants of silver plate seen in various corners of the bit surface, and some expected rusty coloring throughout. The one side of the slobber bar shows a bit more rust, and I have tried to picture that for you above. There is still quite a bit of the gilt showing on the bosses, more on one side than the other.
