It depicts moonshiners armed with rifles to protect their whiskey stills during the early Temperence / prohibition movements in the United States of America. They are watching police orsoldiers or a posse pass by in search of their illegal stills.This print is fromthetimes ofthe major Temperance movements of the mid-1870s.
The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 15 inches (28 x 38 cm). The picture fills most of it, measuring about9 x 11 inches, with a caption below it. The bottom of the print is trimmed tightly below the caption.
