This is a new Barry Sholder Gourd 5 string Fretless Banjo #248 FencepostThe original Fencepost models actually had old fencepost slices from my mother in laws farm. This has been a favorite for many years among players and educators.
This Banjo features a Cherry neck with a shellac finish.The neck is the only thing that has a finish the rest of the banjo is raw right down to the rust nail in the peghead...no charge. the peghead is a slice of barnwood.The tuners are Ebony friction violins...very smooth operation. . The strings are a custom set of D\'Addario nylon and classical guitar strings, much firmer than Nylguts.The gourd is a Canteen measuring 10 1/2\" dia x 3 1/2 \" deep with a 1 1/2 \" soundport. The tailpiece is a Romero style that keeps the strings from rubbing on the edge of the banjo and the head is goatskin..
