Great antique stove top portable oven from noted Indiana Doctor\'s Estate. This Huenefeld \"BOSS\" stove top oven is in great shape for its age. Looks to only have been used a few times at most. Makes an awesome display item for any retro or antiqued kitchen. There are two adjustable & removable shelves. On the bottom is a metal heat diverter/radiator shield.
These types of stoves were made by various companies like New Perfection, Conservo & others from the early 1900\'s to the 1950\'s I have read (the pre 1900 ones were without glass). Not sure of the exact date on this one. I found an ad from 1913 with a similar Boss Oven, but this may be later, so I\'m guesstimating1920\'s, you can research on your own as well, kind of a fun search. Not sure of exact metal, but it does take to a magnet. A far inferior Boss stove to this one sold for $172.50on a while back, so I am pricing based on quality of this one.
I took pictures from all angles. There are a few small dings (one dent on back lower right ) & some minor rust as shown, but otherwise is as clean as a whistle. Please review all pictures taken for your consideration.
When I obtained the stove it had several 1930\'s magazines. I will include one Life Magazine from 1939 as it just seems right to leave it with it. Would compliment any display, it has great advertising & Pre WW II articles.
This item was from an extremely wealthy Doctor\'s Estate sale which included some items valued in excess of $100,000. He may have kept this for it\'s superior condition or perhaps it was a family heirloom. He owned some of the best items from rare antiques of all types & art, to big game taxidermy & furniture from Hollywood elite\'s homes. He really had a massive collection that took 4-5 sales to clear. Anyway, this was one of his items. While this item is not perfect, I would guess less than handful like it exist today in this condition. I did not even clean the item other than wipe some dust off.
The Huenefeld company was founded by Ernst H. Huenefeld in 1872. Today, they are most known as the inventor & maker of the first glass door oven in 1909. The company was also a noted manufacturer of ranges, stoves, ovens, heaters, refrigerators & other household appliances & products. They eventually closed in 1966, based primarily in Cincinnati, Ohio.
