RAREST EVER !!! This salvaged library, buffet/cupboard or cabinet door panel is typically French and nicely hand-carved. It dates to mid/late years 1800\'s and shows a delightful warm brown colour. The lion\'s head is quite impressive and spectacular, the animal is deeply raised and featured roaring and showing its dangerous teeth. It seems to have been applied to the panel, see antique screws. Around the lion\'s head, stunning deeply raised carving in shape of antique rolled parchment, pix 3 & 5.
Beautifully detailed brass escutcheon without keyhole, see pictures
Measurements are 26\"1/2 H x 25\" W x 1\" thick (67cm H x 63,5cm largeur)
The carving is 21\" x 13\", the lion\'s heaad itself being 7\" x7\". It extends a good 2\"1/2
GREAT PATINA ! EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH VERY MINOR NICKS OR SCRATCHES COMMENSURATE WITH AGE
