ORIG EXC KHAKI WWI 1918 US ARMY 6-POCKET 10 RD AMMO BANDOLIER WITH CARDBOARDS For Sale

This is a scarce find, it is an original six-pocket U.S. Army khaki cotton ammunition bandolier, with original cardboard dividers for two, 5-round stripper clips of ammunition per pocket. This is the bandoleer and cardboards only, no ammo. The bandolier is unmarked, it has no stampings or lot cards. The cloth is a khaki with greenish tint, the carrying strap is more of a tan khaki. The weave of the carrying strap is different from the cloth of the pockets. The cloth of the pockets seems a bit more coarse or heavier than the cloth I have observed on WWII bandoliers. (For what it\'s worth, this item came with other bandoliers that were olive drab, stamped on the outside with D1168, and once contained .30-06 ball ammunition that was headstamped with RA18. Those bandoliers had the same weight of cloth for the pockets, and an identical weave on the carrying strap, but were darker OD than the one featured in this sale. This particular bandolier was empty when I received it. This was the only khaki bandolier in the lot, the others were considerably darker OD.) ******** The bandolier was originally intended for carrying 60 rounds of ammunition for the Springfield M1903 or Enfield M1917 rifle. It would have been used to supplement the M1910 cartridge belt. ******* This item is in used but excellent condition, the cloth is strong, has some light soiling and stains but very sound.
