1964 Fender Vibroverb [Blackface, SRV, Vintage Fender] For Sale

Thisis the amp that made Stevie Ray\'s famous tone and is by far the rarest and most collectable of the Blackface era amps.Itis in great vintage condition. Aside from the main filter caps and 1 of the 2x25 coupling caps up top the amp is in alloriginal 1964 condition. All functions work as they should (Vibrato and Reverb). The footswitch is polished metal rather than black which leads me to believe this was actually from a 60s\' Super Reverb, but it functions as it should. The amp has the tilt legs, all new Mesa Boogie Tubes and has been biased to those tubes.

When I got the amp it had an issue with the reverb circuit. It would squeal terribly if you turned it up past three. A bad 2x25 coupling cap and some grounding issues were the source of the problem. Unfortunately that coupling cap had to be replaced. That and the reverbbypass resistor are the only non original parts inside the chassis. All original blue molded caps are in place and in spec. One the bottom new tubes and filter caps, everything else is original. While troubleshooting the reverb circuit I found that the tank only had one or the two springs intact; it still works but the reverb is weak, not that usual Fenderesque surfer verb. I did hook up a tank off another amp and it worked fine but decided to sell it with the original tank and let the buyer decide what they wanted to do with that. I purchased a new reverb transformer but found that the original was not bad so I left it in place but the new one will be included with the sale as will all the original electrolytic caps. One of the screws on the power transformer does not tighten down all the way. It holds and does not cause any problems, I just think someone turned it too tight at some point. I did not want to do any drilling in the chassis or try a larger screw so I left it alone.

Overall the I would say the cosmetic condition of the amp is about 7/10. The tolex has some tears and scuffs. The grill cloth has one hole and a few snags. A very rotten person allowed a child to put some chewing gum on the grill cloth at some point (pictured and marked). I did not want to try to remove it because I feared it would damage the cloth too much and do more harm than good. I have provided as many high res pics as would allow to show any flaws in the amp.

I have approached this amp with great care and respect trying to maintain as much of it\'s original mojo as possible while ensuring it functions 100% as it should.I hopethat whoever buys it treats it with the same respect and care. The amp sounds amazing- as it should. Another er recently educated me on Jensen date codes and I learned that the speaker is dated 1965 so at some point this speaker was added and is not the original 64. All in all an amazing vintage specimen. No international buyers please- I just don\'t know enough about that stuff to offer that type of service. Please email me with questions if you have them.
