This beautiful landscape print, titled \"Pink Palace Waikiki,\" was created by Rosalie Rupp Prussing in 1975. The print is a medium-sized giclée print on paper and is signed by the artist. It features a colorful landscape with the famous Waikiki Pink Palace in the background and a young girl seated on a bench in the foreground with Prussing\'s trademark Mynah bird perched on the back of the bench. This print is an original limited edition, signed and numbered, framed and matted, and in excellent condition. This piece would make a wonderful addition to any collection and is a great way to bring a touch of Hawaiian culture and travel inspiration into your home or office.

All of Rosalie\'s images are done through giclée printing. With the advent of the giclée, the art of fine printing has become even more precise. \"Gisclée\" is based on the French word gicleur, the French technical term for a jet or a nozzle, and the verb coming from it \"gicler\" (to squirt out). In the giclée process, a fine stream on nontoxic water based ink is sprayed onto the archival art paper or canvas.

NOTES:Built in 1927, the iconic Royal Hawaiian Luxury Collection Resort known as the \"Pink Palace of the Pacific\" has one of the longest histories of any hotels in Hawaii. It is the most coveted spot on Waikiki Beach with unrivalled panoramic views of Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach and the sparkling Pacific Ocean.
  • Rosalie Rupp Prussing (1924-2011)painted all her life. She painted as a child and during her years as an art student in Los Angeles. She painted in the spare moments she could find as a wife and mother of four in Hawaii, where she moved in 1959 to follow her husband\'s career. Even when she went back to work as an art teacher and fabric designer, she\'d com home, turn on classical music, tune out her family and paint.
  • \"I used to really agonize over those paintings,\" she recalled. Then she retired and decided to paint only for fun. In 1985, she accepted a commission to do a painting of Hanalei for a magazine cover. \"They wanted Hanalei Bay, the taro field and all these other things. To get it all in, I had to break all the rules-me, the former art teacher. Finally I decided to leave all the bad stuff out and put in whatever I wanted wherever I wanted it.\"
  • From the magazine cover has come a whole series of whimsical island landscapes. The landscapes leave out what Prussing didn\'t like - signs of progress mainly - and are filled with things she does like - colorful flowers, little Hawaiian girls plus animals and birds, especially her trademark mynah bird. (\"I put one in every painting because people enjoy searching for him.\")
  • Her brightly colored, detailed paintings take months to complete, but she turns each one into a whole line of limited edition prints, calendars, note cards - \"things people can afford.\"
  • Best of all, she no longer agonized over her paintings. \"My work is not the kind of art you\'d enter in a juried show, but it isn\'t commercial art either. It\'s just me having a wonderful time. It amazes me how much demand there is for it.\"
  • Rosalie passed away at age 87 in November 2011. Her family has continued her legacy by sharing her art with many people around the world.
