Pair.. Sculpted Foam Grille Covers.. Fits Dynaco A25 speakers..like jbl L100:
$72.00

These beautiful brand new, handcrafted Retro Green sculptured foam grilles covers have been designed from the ground up exclusively for Dynaco A-25 speakers..Utilizing a unique high performance and long lasting foam material that offers superior sound transfer!..From the design to the material used these grilles have been designed for maximum sound transfer that offers very little, if any at all sound loss!..Just holding the grilles up to light you can clearly see right through this material!!
Mount onto original grille frame design..This design is simple and economical..All you will need to do is glue the foam onto your original and existing grille frames and cloth.. *Note..Speaker and wood grille frame is not included in this sale and is only shown for display purposes.
** Important...These will Not Fit the A25 XL or VW versions, the grilles are a different size..A way to tell if you have XL or VW versions is by looking at the speaker from the front.. On the XL and VW the cabinet side, top and bottom boards are thinner compared to the standard A25 which have thicker cabinet boards.*This listing is for a Pair of 2 grille covers.. (You will receive two Retro Green foam grille covers)...These are brand new sculptured foam grille covers that directly fit onto vintage Dynaco A25 speakers wood grille frames..These should fit most versions of the A25, but most likely will Not Fit the XL or VW version..message me with the dimensions of your XL models grille frame and i will see if grille covers could be fabricated for that model also.. The sculpted foam have been professionally painted for superior UV protection and to produce the most vivid color with top of the line materials The back sides of the grille foam has not painted and is the natural foam color, which is a dark charcoal/black..Other colors are possible, Orange, blue, brown, maroon, dark green..Just message me and ask *Important installation instructions..
Installation of these grille covers will require you to glue them onto your original dynacowood frames ..You could glue them right onto the original dynaco cloth if wanted as long as the cloth is still tightly stretched and not too ripped up..If you dont want to apply glue and ruin the original cloth you could carefully remove the cloth to save it for another time and install and stretch on new cloth onto the frames..That is what i done and is shown in the photos..
I used a thin Black sheer window curtain cloth that is very open to make sure to keep the maximum sound transfer..The cloth needs to be tight, i used hot glue and dabbed one spot at a time and stretched as i went, or you could use a staple gun..It just takes some patience to get it nice and tight..
Another alternative would be to construct yourself and new set of wood frames with new cloth to mount the foam covers on so that way you will still have your original grilles with the original cloth to switch back to when desired..The foam covers in my pictures are just pinned onto the wood frames with 6 pins for taking the pics..
You will want to use some low profile velcro to hold the frames into the speaker cabinet..The sew on type of velcro that you can glue to attach is thinner that most other types of velcro..Joanne fabrics has velcro called soft and flexible that is a low profile and easy release that works well..Inexpensive black sheer window curtains can be bought on on for the cloth..You can use Elmers Glu-All to attach the foam to the cloth or spray adhesive..if using glue you will want to use very small beads so that glue does not come up through to the front of the foam through the open pores..Keeping the foam face up when gluing and drying will also help to make sure no glue comes out through the front of the foam..Do not use any type of foaming or expanding glue.
Removal of original grilles can be a bit of a challenge if they have never been removed before.. First remove grille badge by turning it counter clockwise, there is a wood screw attached to the badge.. My advise is to use two thin putty knifes and slide the knife between the wood and fabric covered grille frame and gently try to shift the grille from side to side and top to bottom first..
Once you see it moving start at a corner at top or bottom that seems the loosest and gently pry between wood and grille frame, you will only be able to insert the knife a tiny ways down in and just catch the very top edge of the grille frame so you can fulcrum the putty knife off of the wood cabinet edge..Just watch and be very careful not to damage the cabinet edge will prying..while i did this it left no marks or damage to the cabinet..You will only be able to pry up the grille a little bit at a time and that is where the second putty knife comes in..
Once you have the grille raised slightly with one knife use the other to raise the grille a little more, then back to the first knife and get a new bite and work like that until you get the grille corner up high enough you can fully get a putty knife under..Then its just a matter of working around the entire grille prying up..just be careful not to stick the knife in too far as to hit the woofer, and the glue will be sticking to the cloth so just work at it slow and you will get it and not mess up the original grilles or cloth..
Some say to use a hairdryer and that may help or some say even say to set the speakers in a car on a hot sunny day to warm up the glue..I feel the car trick would really help because this old glue is still flexible after all these years which really shocked me!..So warming it up will help, not sure about the hair dryer trick though.
I spend a lot of time thoroughly writing descriptions for my products..i like to be as transparent as possible to avoid any problems..They are long i do agree, but who buys things without reading a items description?..i know i sure don\'t!..But it appears to me many people still do not read my descriptions, but instead they will message me with questions that are obviously noted in the description..So if you have made it this far reading my description i very much appreciate that..To show my appreciation if you mention the word \'badges\' in the message box at checkout i will include two free gifts in with your order..Thanks for reading
