Panama-Pacific Commemorative 1915 S MS 63 NGC Silver Coin SKU:I9373 For Sale

This 90% silver half dollar commemorated the Panama Canal\'s opening celebration in 1915. It was the second commemorative half dollar issue, and the first commemorative to bear IN GOD WE TRUST. The motto is on the reverse by George T. Morgan (who created the Morgan dollar). Below the motto is an eagle on a Union Shield. To each side, oak and olive branches symbolize strength and peace. The obverse is by Charles E. Barber (who created the Liberty Head motif). It shows Columbia with arms outstretched, spreading fruits and flowers. A cherub holds a cornucopia behind her. In the background, the sun\'s rays shine over the Golden Gate.
