Up for sale is this delightful covered box in the form ofa horned cow made by Portieux Vallerysthal of France in blue opalineglass. Blue opaline is a style of bluemilk glass. I am not certain of theexact function of this piece as when the lid is in place there is a slightopening at the mouth. So this would be atype of mustard pot or jelly jar where the opening is for a spoon; or thiscould be a type of spout for cream.Regardless the piece is stunning and very visual appealing. The blue glass is less opaque near the edgeof the base and on the horns. The jar is4 3/8” tall to the top of the horns, 3 ¾ from ear tip to ear tip and 3 ¾”long. It is not marked. It is in fine vintage condition with nonicks, chips, cracks or stains. Thanksfor looking.
