RARE 1917 Antique Stewart Phonograph Record Player WORKS Wood Grain Paint:
$295.00

This listing is for a RARE 1917 Antique Stewart Phonograph Record Player. It features gorgeous original hand painted faux Wood Grain Paint on a metal case of an unusual shape. Made roughly in 1917 in Canada, this neat little phono was marketed heavily as an item perfect for those serving in the military, and as such many were purchased for the purpose, with a special separate model being released for it. I believe this one is the original or “civilian” model. According to a 1917 advert “The the Stewart Phonograph gives a beautiful,

faithful and natural reproduction of all kinds of music, including popular songs, marches, dance music and the finest classical and oneratic selec-tions. From a musical standpoint, the Stewart

Phonograph fills every requirement perfectly.

Because of its superior qualities, and very moderate price, it will be an easy and rapid seller. The price places it within the reach of all. Send your order today.” It winds smoothly and runs well, with a working speed adjustor lever and stop lever. The interesting design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of decor styles. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely won’t have! A great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor.

It is in good condition, with no major damage. It has some trouble keeping going while playing on the very edge of the record, but a full refurb would fix it. Going about an inch in fixes the issue. Spring still seems quite strong, it winds well and keeps up speed, needing a few helping cranks to keep going but it’s a usual quirk of age. Has a crack starting in the pot metal bracket holding the reproducer to the tone arm. Non structurally compromised as of now, could be repaired or replaced or treated gently as is. Works best if you start it up on full speed then slowly adjust it to the correct speed rather than starting at half speed. I assume the reproducer is original, I have lightly cleaned it but not disassembled it at all. It appears to work just fine. The paint, which is a faux wood grand hand done with a brush, is in good shape for its age. It has some spots of wear & very light surface rust, as is usual, but no major areas of concern. I have only lightly cleaned the unit to avoid paint damage, with a full wax & polish so to speak it would really shine!

Thank you for your consideration, I appreciate your time. Reasonable offers always appreciated. Comes as shown, please see photos for details and measurements. Comes insured in shipment, packed with care.
