I have most of the JBL schematics for their vintage crossovers and will often pick up a crossover I don\'t have a schematic of just so I can put a schematic together for future use.I use quality, audio grade film caps, copper air coils and wirewound, non-inductive resistors. You can also supply your own components if you choose to rebuild with some of the more exotic boutique capacitors (Contact me for revised pricing).
-I will replace all of the capacitors, coils and resistors. I us parts from F-Dyne, Mills, Vishay, Dayton Audio, Jantzen Audio and Solen.
-I will replace the pots if your crossover has them and return your old ones so you can retain the original ones with the JBL sticker on the bottom.
-If your crossover has a 3 position rotary switch, I have new replacements I\'ll install.
-The only item which is obsolete and will be reused is the autoformer in some of the crossovers using the 3 position switches (LX5, LX13, N1200, etc.). If yours is damaged, the best solution is to buy another crossover and rebuild that one or scavenge the autoformer for yours.
-Rebuilds come with a 1 year warranty on new parts.
There is no magic to these rebuilds, if you have a 50 year old crossover, your caps are in poor condition and are altering your sound. Capacitors just don\'t last that long, you can read up about older cap design life in just about any audio forum. It doesn\'t matter how expensive or resolving your power amp is, if you\'re using an older crossover, the last component your signal passes through is a 50 year old cap and it will take it\'s toll on your sound. A rebuild with new metalized polypropylene film caps is going to make a noticeable difference.
The other components of crossovers are usually coils and resistors. Resistors do much better than capacitors. Wirewound resistors are a good upgrade. They are inexpensive and worth doing if you are rebuilding.Coils usually pass the test of time well unless over driven. An upgrade to copper air core coils will be an improvement over an older, iron core coil. If you\'d prefer to keep the existing iron core coils, that can be done. I\'ll measure to make sure they still meet specs and reinstall.

I am providing prices for rebuilding a pair of LX5, N2400, N7000 and N8000 crossovers as these are the units I stock parts for. If you have a different crossover, odds are I can rebuild it but parts will add a week to the rebuild time. I have rebuilt crossovers in stock as well as a few modified versions of the N2400 and N7000 for use with mis-matched impedance drivers. See my other listings.
The modified N7000 and N2400 for mismatched impedance drivers is an option for rebuilding yours. Same price, just let me know before rebuilding.
