A Rare and interesting item, dating from World War I, a tool made to inspect the interior of rifles, most probably a Lee Enfield .303. Made by Gilbert's in Birmingham, their name and the military crows foot mark stamped on the outside. Gilbert's had a contract (number 94/R/1273) in 1917 to make 5000 of these "Boroscopes".
It opens up and contains a mirror, allowing one to inspect the interior of the rifle barrel.
Made of brass, complete with its brass chain, in very good condition.
Measures: 1 3/4" long X approximately 1/2" in diameter.
