You rarely see these offered. A rare Las Vegas Golden Nugget $5 casino chip issued in 1954. This chip is the same as TCR N8464. What makes it rare is that the inlay is much darker. It was part of my grandfather’s collection, and one of his most cherished chips. It’s now time for someone else to enjoy it.
The casino was originally built in 1946, and is still in operation today, making it one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. Frank Sinatra periodically headlined there with it being seen in the opening credits of the Elvis Presley film, Viva Las Vegas, and several other movies. The world’s largest gold nugget, weighing in at 60 pounds, and known as ‘The Hand of Faith’, is on display in the lobby.
