1957 Motorola 6c26-W AM Clock Tube Radio with PHONO

Welcome to our sale! Please take a quick look at our video of this ATOMIC / Jet age tube clock radio from Motorola and then read all the details below! From the famed Motorola company, this radio is a real head turner with design cues from subtle machine age to ATOMIC accents that screams 1950’s and the Cold War! This radio’s original phono input works well and I played many 1950’s songs through it using a 3.5 mm RCA jack and my iPod. That was fun! My kids were dancing around to Bill Haley and the Comets! These radios came in great and ivory, both colors are not common and even less so in working condition like this one or with any kind of servicing. The cosmetics are almost like new! Someone really took care of this radio. The electronics have been serviced. It works great and brings in stations up and down the dial loud and clear with no hum and no slipping of the dial. This is great for a collector of 1950’s memorabilia from the ATOMIC / Cold War era. This radio was introduced in 1957, when Elvis dominated the charts with 25 weeks at #1 with four different singles! Rock music was televised on Dick Clark\'s American Bandstand, and RCA, after losing Elvis, signs the new biggest rock and roll success, Jerry Lee Lewis. Who’s Great Balls of Fire was #2 on the charts to Elvis’ #1 Jail House Rock. Now, for your viewing and listening pleasure – please click PLAY below to look and listen to this radio in action!! Then scroll down below the video to finish reading all the details that makes this radio so exceptional!

As you can hear from the video, this radio sounds excellent, and the cabinet looks pristine. The volume control is smooth with no scratch or pop noises. The knobs work as designed with no slipping and there is no hum. This Item is offered with & at a low starting offer price - so, start your offerding & good luck.

There are minor blemishes and imperfections but very hard to see in normal light. The original cord is a little hard, but still pliable. The electronics have been serviced including all tubes being tested and any weak ones replaced, the filter caps were replaced, the chassis was cleaned, the controls were also cleaned and lubed as well. Cosmetically, it near MINT! There is nothing that detracts from the overall look of the radio. It is a beautiful function piece of art – perfect for any collector who loves space age / ATOMIC period design. You will love listening to it for many years to come. Please click “FOLLOW SELLER” on the top right of this listing to stay on top of all of our new vintage radio sales – new listings will show up on your homepage feed. The Motorola Story

In 1928 Paul and Joseph Galvin purchased the bankrupt Stewart Battery Company’s to create Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. They set up shop in Chicago, Illinois. The company had $565 in working capital and five employees. The company\'s first product was the \"B\" battery eliminator - a device that enabled battery-powered radios to be powered by household electricity. They started making a lot of radios, but after a year in the radio business, after the 1929 stock market crash in the US, sales plummeted. Paul Galvin challenged his employees to design an inexpensive car radio that could be installed in most vehicles. With the hard work of an enthusiastic team, Galvin was able to demonstrate a working model of the radio at the June 1930 Radio Manufacturers Association convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Afterward he was able to bring home enough orders to keep the company afloat. The company went on to innovate and diversify, in the 1940’s they brought were one of many television pioneering companies. During WW2, they made a two way portable battlefield radio for the US Army. By the 1950’s Motorola was making more TV’s than radios and it became their bread and butter. They became one of the top television manufacturers in the United States. In mid-1958, the company introduced its first stereo phonographs. By year-end, sales of stereo products surpassed the prior year\'s sales of all phonographs and hi-fi equipment. The company then combined stereos, radios and television sets in single units, creating early versions of modern \'home entertainment\' centers. By adapting to changing tastes and demands, Motorola\'s sales grew exponentially and the brand name \'Motorola\' became synonymous with \'entertainment in the air.\' Today, Motorola makes everything from Mobil smartphones, to Tablet computers, to Networking systems and Cable television systems. They still make 2 way hand held radios also!
