Box with lid. Features what is probably Link:sadeli mosaic work.The removable lid is inset with a thin repousse silverplaque, not sure of purity, but it is not plated. It features Persian style imagery, and probably depicts the Parsee deity Ahura Mazda, a winged diety. This might have been made in India, by silversmiths who created works for the Parsee / Parsi community, as I have seen other examples Link:here andhereonline that are attributed to this region/community. Zoroastrianism is practiced within this community, and this imagery, such as Ahura Mazda is part of that cosmology.

The box is in great condition. There looks to be build up of some yellowed shellac or similar, so you can see in the pictures some has worn away. I suspect this was an original thin coat that has yellowed and partially rubbed down over time.
I don\'t know the age of this piece, so I am going to say it is 20th century, 1900-1950. There are a few examples online dated as 19th century, but to be on the safe side I don\'t want todisappointand make that judgement.
