This model is not one of those cheaply made things from a relic store or flea market.... it is nowhere close. The barrel is machined from solid industrial brass bar, it is not cast. The carriage is made of heirloom quality furniture grade American walnut. The metal furniture is made of solid brass. The model is top quality with the barrel being 3 inches long! The bore size is a very respectable 1 inch.

The model is1:10 scale accurate in every detail of the famous mortars used by Washington and his allies at the battle of Yorktown. This battle resulted in America winning her independence. The original mortars fired a hollow ball filled, actually a fused bomb fired at a high angle and was designed to fall down upon the enemy behind a wall or in the trench. When this bomb exploded just above ground level, it caused catastrophic losses of persons so unfortunate to beon the recieving end and wasgreatly feared by the enemy.
