Singer 301 Sewing Machine Shortbed Slant Needle w/Cradle and Attachments For Sale

This is a Singer 301 in very nice used condition. It has plenty of fine scratches and fine chips on the bed (especially on the leading edge), typical for an old well used machine. It also has significant scuffing in the area of the spool holder for the bobbin winder - the previous owner had no felt here and the spools wore away on the finish for years. This machine is used, but by no means used up. It runs very smoothly and produced a nice tight stitch when I tested it.The serial number is: NA084306.I\'m not a machine repair expert, nor a tailor. All I\'ve done is oil this machine according to the directions I found online and tested it.Regarding the missing \"A\" in the model number:
This machine is a 301, not a 301A. Is that a big deal? Is the 301A just that little bit better than a plain old 301?
From what I\'ve gathered online it is a distinction without a difference. The \"A\" only referred to the the manufacturing plant location of Anderson, South Carolina and signified no difference whatsoever in the construction or expected performance of the machine. Please, study up on it with google if you\'re concerned.Regarding the Cradle:
This machine and cradle came out of Singer cabinet number 65 (cabinet number is according to ISMACS International\'s website). I don\'t know if the machine and cradle will fit right into the cabinet you have. The 65 has two metal brackets with cork blocks on the front of the machine opening. These hold the front of the machine. My guess is the cabinet number 65 had these brackets built into it in place of the rabbet cut into the machine opening of many other Singer cabinets. The brackets allow the 65 to be used with many other machines as well as the 301.
If you have a cabinet number 65 you should be fine to use this machine and cradle - so long as the brackets are there. I\'m not including them in this sale. I\'ve looked at my cabinet number 56 (also for sale on ) and believe it would fit if you modified the front of the machine opening slightly, though I\'ve not tried it.The sale includes:
