Handmade Lampwork beads are made one at a timeby heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration.

See the photo on the back that shows the colors that make up the piece of pale blue, tan and black. Rotating the piece from the front the design appears to move around.
