Stunning Wildwood Onyx Porcelain Lamp Handpainted with Butterflies and Florals: w/Shade.
Wildwood Lighting has been a reputable manufacturer of fine lamps for years, and this vintage lamp is a good example of why that’s true. The temple jar of this piece
is painted a deep onyx, and the Moriage paint technique and colors of the butterflies and florals create a fantasia of vivid hues in contrast against it.
Fittings on the lamp are all burnished brass. It has a quatrefoil, plinth base, with new, dense felt pads to protect fine furniture surfaces. The three-power socket is heavy milled brass, and has a brass - not plastic - control knob.
The shade is cream shantung type fabric stretched on a cut corner, 8 panel frame, lined with white taffeta. Ribs and edges of the shade are welted in the same shantung fabric as the outside of the shade. An intricately made finial in burnished brass and ebony crowns the lamp.
Lamp Dimensions: Overall height, 30.5”. Height to top of socket, 19.75”. Base, 7” square quatrefoil. Jar diameter, 9”. Finial, 1.5” diameter by 3” tall. Throat plate, 6”.
Shade Dimensions: Height, 13”. Top, 6.75” square with 7.35” diagonal. Bottom, 16” square by 18” diagonal.
