US Navy transport pilots in WW2 were issued a long goatskin leather flight coat with a wide mouton collar for their daunting cross Atlantic journey. These warm, rakish coats were often appropriated by officers aboard subs and carriers to be worn as a mark of distinction while standing watch \"topside\". This US Navy WW2 TRANSPORT PILOTWILLIS & GEIGER M-69EGOATSKIN LEATHER FLIGHT COAT is in good condition, with some drying and spot scuffing at the lower right front, a small spot of whitish and dark soiling at the left chest, some stitch holes in the shape of a square at the inner right lapel, a small bare patch at the lower inner front right collar, a very small bare spot at the lower inner left front and the lower middle back collar, some loose stitching at the lower left front zipper track backing/placket join, heavy scattered bare patching to the alpaca pile lining at the middle and lower interior, numerous scattered holes to the rayon lining at the upper back, several scattered small tears to the rayon lining of the cuffs, some dark soiling at the lower left back, some scattered drying and spot scuffing at front and back, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the coat is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough goatskin leather construction. Most interestingly, it boasts a thick, warm mouton collar with a goatskin leather button throat latch, sports a fully functional \"TALON\" metal front zipper with a goatskin leather pull, and carries the classic \"COATS, AIRCRAFT TRANSPORT / Bu AERO - U.S. NAVY / SPECIFICATION M69E\" black and gold nomenclature tag at the inside neck, which is also marked with its maker, the legendary \"WILLIS AND GEIGER INC\". It\'s a Size 42, features the original brown knit cuffs, and bears a \"TALON\" vertically zippered pocket at the left chest.
