A very rare antique compass in wood box, by famous maker John Moncas. Marked Moncas, Liverpool. John Moncas was fluent as early as 1818 until the mid 1830s. John Moncas was a purveyor of very fine pocket watches, mostly made of 18th ct. gold and his pieces sell for thousands. It\'s a 32 pt. compass. The wood box is2.5\" x 2.5\"square. In my opinion, it is in good condition for it\'s age. Another sold five years ago in quite worn condition. This is missing the front latch on the box but hinges are very good and appear to be all original. A piece like this does not come around easily. Being sold, as is. No returns.
