Great piece of history!...I believe it came from a Alabama Fire Station, possibly Montgomery. I guess you could research the numbers on the brass plate and find out exactly where it came from....Paint is flaked but box is in great shape with no broken or cracked areas. There is a little ding on the rim underneath the keyhole cover. Let me know if you need a pic of this.....The key and lock mechanism has been removed.....There is a hole in the bakelite inner box as you can see.
Would look nice restored!

Sorry to add this so late, but the ding I spoke of under the keyhole cover, is actually a couple of heavily rubbed areas in the inside of the lip. Possibly done over a long period of time. Email me and I will send you photos, if your interested.
