Vintage USAArchtop Acoustic!
This is really cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1930\'s Orpheum Number 3 Archtop Acoustic guitar. These are very rare guitars. I believe this guitar was made in the 1930s from comparing it with other Orpheums of the period. Also, it was around that time that guitars started taking popularity over banjos as Orpheum was a big name banjo maker. Not a whole lot is known about the history of Orpheum guitars. It is said that one of the Epiphone Brothers had a hand in starting Orpheum. Orpheum guitars were first produced by the William L. Lange Company of New York in the mid-1930s. Some of the Orpheum models were built in Chicago by the Kay company. Lange\'s company went out of business in the early 1940s. Great sounding guitar!
The Number 3 has a feel and tone similar to a Kay but just better. Think of it as a deluxe version of a Kay Archtop. Plays and sounds great! If you are into that trashy Mississippi Delta Blues kind of sound, you will love this Orpheum. Perfect for sitting on the porch strumming. Keep in mind that this is a Orpheum NOT a Martin or Gibson. Is nowhere the same in quality, butit does have the killer looks. Remember when these were built this guitar was intended as a intermediate level guitar.
