UP FOR SALE IS A VERY NICE 1940s VINTAGE SCC GLASS BUTTER CHURN WITH HAND CRANKED METALPADDLES. OTHER THAN SCC, NO OTHER MAKERS MARK. I BELIEVE IT WAS MADE BY THE STANDARD CHURN COMPANY OF WAPAKOMETA, OH. IT HAS A RED METAL GEAR COVER. THE RIBBED GLASS JAR IS 9 3/4\" TALL AND IS EMBROSSED \"FILL TO HERE\" LINE AND \"4\" ON THE SIDE AND SCC ON THE BOTTOM.JAR HAS A SQUARE BOTTOM TAPERING TO A ROUND TOP, SOMETIMES REFERED TO AS A TULIP SHAPE. This last style with metal paddleswas advertised in the 1947 and 1948 Wards catalogs and still appeared in the 1953-54 and 1954-55 catalogs. The price for a four quart churn in the 1947 and 1948 catalog was$2.49 and in the 1953-54 and 1954-55 catalogthe price was $3.29.
