This listing is for a beautiful vintage Italian vase from the 1980’s. Made in Deruta, Italy. It’s design is very unique in that it is not the typical Renaissance ceramics coming from Deruta. It is inspired by the early 1900’s Liberty style (Italian variant of Art Nouveau).
Signed GIALLETTI G.P. Deruta. Handmade.
10” tall. In excellent preowned condition. No chips or cracks.
I reached out to the Italian manufacturer G.& P.-DERUTA (Gialletti Pimpinelli) for more information about this beautiful and unique vase. Here is what they said:
“I confirm to you that the vase in your picture is one of our vases made during 80\'s and sold from our company for approximately following 10 years !!!
It was a design inspired by the first years of 1900, Liberty style , so not exactly with a Deruta traditional style which is always inspired by the Renaissance age !!!
We used a special technique called \" LUSTRO \" after a preparation and application of metallic salts of copper or silver, mixed with vinegar, ocher and clay . This special material is applied to the surface of each piece that has already been fired and glazed. The pot is then fired again , for the 3rd time , in a reducing atmosphere oven, at about 600°C. ”
