Vintage Expressionist Painting by Dora Higgins Eudey - HUGE

For your consideration is a painting by listed artist Dora Higgins Eudey. Eudey is known for her California landscapes and her abstract expressionist works. See bio below.

The subject of this artwork is a woman with blond hair dressed in all blue. Her features are blurred as though Eudey does not want us to know her identity. She sits amongst a luxurious backdrop of draped fabric in red, blue, yellow, orange and green primary colors. The painting is large (40 x 30 inches) and impactful.

Adding to the interest of this work is the fact Eudey affixed thick cut painted paper at various points throughout the artwork to create a sort of painting collage. The result is a multi-dimensional work of art.

Painting is on paper board and comes unframed. Condition is great, apart from worn corners. At the very, very far ends of the painting, the corners are worn from handling the artwork, and/or where it touched the surface it was stored upon. (See photo showing 1 corner which is representative of all 4.) This is no biggie, as you won’t see these corners when the artwork is framed; and even without framing, this piece is so eye catching and interesting, I doubt one even notices the slight loss of paint/fraying.

The artwork is light, but the size is cumbersome for shipping. I’m

afraid this will cost quite a bit to ship. Anything over 30 x 24” and UPS has a field day. I can’t stomach charging buyers over $40.00 for shipping, even though this one’s likely to cost $55.00 or more. Discounted artwork AND discounted shipping? It’s your birthday! Please note: Buyer is always welcome to swing by my office in Laguna Beach in Southern California to view this artwork in person. Buyer may also pick-up their artwork at my office this saving me $55.00+.

SHIPPING PLEASE NOTE: Due to the unique size and nature of each work of art, I am unable to ship next day. I source boxes to fit the artwork, or I create them myself. Sometimes I build cages. I use a lot of bubble wrap, paper, padded paper, inflatables, foam, and/or other materials to protect artwork from the rough handling that inevitably occurs during transit. Unfortunately I have to use a bunch of paper and plastic, so I use recycled materials whenever possible. All of this takes time. These are one of a kind works of art. They cannot be replaced. Please give me the time they deserve to pack them properly.

Artist’s Bio -

Dora I. Higgins Eudey was born in California on September 13, 1909.  Dora was the wife of Henry Eudey.   She was a resident of Richmond, CA in 1940 and Redlands, CA by 1950.   She died in San Bernardino, CA on September 19, 2006. 

Exhibited:  California Watercolor Society, 1951-55.
