Up for grabs today is a vintage Gibson LP-1 preamp. Unit is dated January 22 1971. Somewhere on this big blue marble an LP-2 is desperately searching for it\'s other half. For those not in \"the know\", the LP-2 is the ginormous speaker/horn cabinet that also has a built in amplifier. Alas, all I have is the lonely preamp. The unit is untested. Although I have amassed quite a boatload of gear over the years, and probably COULD test it if I really put my mind to it, I honestly don\'t have a clue how the damn thing operates, or really even what to plug into where. And I don\'t want to use my go-to gear as a test mule. So that being said, as well as the fact this unit is 45 years old, ALL SALES WILL BE FINAL. \"Assume\" it doesn\'t work if you hit BIN. Then if it gets to you and it works perfectly, you\'re ahead of the game! It powers up, the lights light up and there is an almost inaudible hum emanating from it. Made in Lincolnwood, IL. This preamp does work. I found someone locally who had an interest in it and made the correct connections to test it. The only issue is the reverb. If you smack the top of the cabinet with your hand the reverb will work for 5 seconds or so, but eventually fades out. Probably a bad connection somewhere that needs cleaned.
