Vintage Kenmore Sewing Machine 120.71 - Kenmore Engineering Disaster:
$24.99

How Not to Build a sewing machine - This Kenmore sewing machine is so cool to look at but it has nylon bearings that swell up and the machine won\'t run because of it. This is one of 3 machines that I know of that Kenmore had made that were complete and utter engineering disasters. It might work properly in a very dry climate but there are no guarantees of that. I\'m sure it would sew just fine if the bearings were different, but as it is, it\'s a nice looking doorstop or a great example of an engineering disaster!

About Me

I love sewing machines! I collect, use, repair and restore vintage sewing machines and have done so for more years than I\'d like to admit :) Unfortunately for me, my space is severely limited and my loss is your gain! I like to look at it from the standpoint that I\'m sharing these wonderful mechanical marvels with someone wise enough to appreciate the value of these timeless machines. And before I list them, I get to take them apart and clean them all up and sew with them and adjust everything to make sure that the buyer receives a machine that will be a joy to use and not full of frustrations. It\'s very rewarding when I receive an email from a happy buyer telling me how glad they are that they found my listing :)

A Word about \'Industrial Strength\'

Something that\'s been bothering me for a while - Sellers saying their machines are \'INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH\', they EAT LEATHER, blah, blah, blah... And they sell their machines for big bucks when those of us who are honest and don\'t do that get much less for the SAME machines. Just about any machine will sew through the samples they show if the proper needle and thread is used. What they won\'t tell you is that if you do that type of sewing for a long period of time, it will cause the machine to wear out very quickly. It simply causes too much stress on the machine. If you want to sew heavy leather on a regular basis, you need to buy a machine specifically made for that purpose. Not all industrial machines can sew leather either - many industrial machines are made with a specific purpose in mind, such as quickly sewing lightweight fabrics; many - if not most - are simply geared for speed. Industrial motors are heavy, gigantic things that require a very heavy table to mount to and they have at least 1/4 HORSEPOWER, not .5 or even 1.5 AMP! I hate to see these buyers being duped. I often wonder how they can sleep at night but then I think that they must stuff their pillows with all the cash they\'re raking in. Call me a Pollyanna but I just can\'t do that.

Packing

Rest assured your machine will be packed with the utmost care to ensure it arrives undamaged. I use lots of bubble wrap and styrofoam, not to mention double boxes when necessary, to ensure safe arrival. I also use as much recycled material as possible to help keep shipping costs down.

Shipping

I do my best to get items shipped the next business day after payment is received. If there will be a delay, I\'ll contact you ASAP. I ship with FedEx for a couple of reasons – the most important being the way packages are handled. I have received machines shipped with UPS that were completely destroyed in transit and took forever to get here. They were also very expensive to ship. I have found that FedEx delivers quickly, safely, and more economically than UPS or USPS. If you live close enough, free pick-up is always available. Also, please keep in mind that both and paypal take fees from the final value of the item and also from the shipping charges now. If the shipping charges seem high, that is the reason – I’m not out to make a whole bunch of money on padded shipping charges, I just want to break even on them.

Payment

I accept Paypal and Payment upon Pickup - which can be credit cards via Square and cash. I would appreciate payment within 3 days of sale end. Please email if more time is needed or other payment methods are requested. response

Once you receive your item I’ll be glad to exchange response with you. If there is ever a problem of any kind, let me know and I’ll make it right. I have been very fortunate on to have dealt with a lot of great people and I have never \'solicited\' response, I always let my items, packing and service dictate my response and it speaks for itself. However, if there is any reason you don\'t feel like you can give me five stars, please let me know and I\'ll do what I can to make it right.
