it appears to be maple wood on the sides and back
& spruce on the top,
oval soundhole with twowood rings,
ebony fingerboard with dot inlay, paddle shape
peghead,
four-per-side tuners, in Golden Orangefinish, mfg.
1914-1915.
Mandolin was recently re-strung and the action is quite good and the sound is excellent!There was a major repair done many years back as the neck was re-glued back on. in the sound hole the Gibson certification is absent with just a glue stain remaining. The # 2616 appears etched into the wood inside the soundhole looking up towards the neck. This is the only # on this mandolin. It\'s a combination of this # plus the other details on this instrument to help us surmise the date it probably originated from. The top has two minor dings on either side of the bridge above the top strings. The finish on the rest of the guitar and the fretboard are clean and look good.
