Delightful and charming vintage, 38 year old replica of a Victorian sampler sewn in England in 1860.
Very traditional of needle arts/family heirloom.
Worked on even weave linen, with embroidery threads, the design is personalised with several sets of family initials and the dates 1860 and 1977.
Truly beautiful English sampler, in an array of soft deep colours on a faded linen ground, worked nearly four decades ago in an older vein. The sampler depicts dogs, peacocks, flowers and stylised patterns, below alphabets and numbers. It features three sets of initials; W K either side of a floral/tree arrangement and, G J and BvT above the peacocks.
The finished sampler is approx. 34 x 37cm in its wood frame (bottom lip has a small knock as might be expected given its age-see pictures please.) The frame is backed with a faded turquoise paper. A hook rusted with age is attached.
Overall Excellent Vintage Condition for its age.
