Thank you Gil for saving me that chaotic day and rescuing all the vintage clothing you saved as well as me. I will always thank Gil for every piece I list. The owner of the estate did know, by showing me a photo, that this was a wedding ensemble. He did not know the ancestor of his family that wore this. No name or date on the photo. This Two piece dates from 1894-1896 period. This is what is called the \"Hourglass\" fashion style. This was also known as the \"Gay Ninties\" and was also the Garish period for very odd color combinations, plus, the Huge Leg-O-Mutton, Balloon, and, Russian Droop sleeves. This gown is constructed or wool and and silk velvet. Yoke is constructed of a pale tan silk floral Brocade fabric. This was once a pale green color but has faded to a taupe color, poorly stored along with the teens ball gown. This was at the bottom of the box due to the weight of the skirt. In poor to fair condition. Bodice shows huge sleeves constructed of silk velvet. Velvet has deterioration from age. Inside of bodice boned and lined in Brown cotton. Piece of dried tape shows the name \"Bridges\" at the neckline. I saw this name later after I arrived back home and went through the box of gowns. Silk velvet trims front and back of bodice. Yoke overlaps from left to right and hooks at the top back around the neck. Small Johnny Collar. Some small moth holes from age along front. Long huge Balloon sleeves with knotted trimmed fabric along the edge of sleeve, ribbon trim has deteriorated. Same edging trims bodice hemline, large silk velvet bow adorns the front lower bodice. Armcyces are not too bad. Still intact on the wool bodice. Hook and eye front closure. Two large hooks at lower bodice back to attach the skirt too. Inside of skirt lined with brown cotton. Inner cotton bodice closure with the over bodice closure over that. Small hole in back, see photo, stains, faded area\'s, flaked silk velvet on sleeves and trim from age. Silk is a natural fiber and deteriorates from dryness and poor stored conditions. See measurements in Item Description section.
