This sale is for a unique historic French WW1 Souvenir Cannon and Helmet inkwell dedicated to the French Third Alpine Infantry Regiment. The original for this work was sculpted by famous French Art Deco sculptor A. Ouvet and contains his signature on the back side near the helmet. The inkwell is made of a bronze/Spelter type metal and has a patina normal for an item of this age. The glass insert appears to be original and the hinged lid is in perfect working order.
The plate on the front is inscribed \"Su Du 3eme R.I.A.\" Which translates literally to \"Souvenir of the 3rd Alpine Infantry Regiment\".
GREAT VINTAGE CONDITION - HINGE COMPLETELY INTACT - LINER FITS WELL AND APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL - SLIGHTLY DUSTY
