Very rare, very early second printing of Soldier\'s Pay, April 1926.
It\'s denoted as a presentation copy. Inscribed to a Albert S. Bales. I can\'t seem to find any info on him. Either way. An amazing collectible.
Book is in good shape but I\'m no expert in description or grading. See the pictures. I\'m happy to answer questions or provide any other pictures.
Edit: In light of all the interest in this book, messages, and offers I\'ve raised the opening offer. I\'ve had this book in my possession for over 20 years and am ready to part with it.
I\'m not sure the book\'s value and can\'t find a true comp. I\'ve looked for quite some time.
I can find signed Faulkners, early first editions, signed first editions and even a true first edition of this, his first novel, with dj ($15k).
I can\'t however find a signed copy of this or anything close to this early of a verified date (1927) of autograph. Well before his fame came a few years later. I can only imagine that this presention copy and person inscribe to was a friend, family member, early supporter, publisher, etc.
Good luck offerding. We\'ll see where this goes...
And here is some AI for the description:
This is a rare find for book collectors and William Faulkner fans alike. A signed first edition, 2nd printing of Soldier\'s Pay from 1926. This book is a piece of literary history, with an inscription from the author himself. It has special attributes such as being signed and is in good standing for its age. The publisher is unknown, adding to its mystique. This book is a must-have for any rare book collector or Faulkner enthusiast.
