If you yearn for honest simplicity in your collections and love farmhouse decor this is a very lovely original antique handmade patchwork quilt with a sweet old homespun back from an Ohio homestead. I do believe it was made by a farm wife back in the day who used her old clothing scraps as country people were very frugal and never let any little smidgen go to waste. It makes a great display if you need one to hang on a wall or to grace an antique bed. The blues are so charming and they enhance the other fabric patterns so nicely. Check out the pics that were taken outside in natural daylight to see the many designs on the calicos. SO many nice early ones and great colors too. And the back is a combo of homespuns with a nice patch of that early brown we all love to collect these days also. It measures about 72 x 81 overall.
I don\'t think this sweet treasure was ever used much or maybe not at all. It was stored for many years and has some aging spots on the back from it that you can see in the pics and they might wash out if you properly soak it but I don\'t consider this an apology as it\'s very old and overall it\'s still just as nice and clean as the day it was made otherwise. The colors are still nice and vibrant with no fading. It\'s hand sewn and quilted with tiny stitches and the original sizing is still on the front pieces with no wear that I can see. It has thin batting inside. And the edges are bound with the best early blue calico too. Again check out the pics and know it\'s MUCH better in person than they could ever show you here.
