Found this in a friends barn this weekend, so it is barn fresh.Old WW1 Military ammo box. Made of wood. The corners are dovetailed.There is a metal push button latch, that still works as well as a metal hinge. Both metal pieces are rusty and are held on with flat head screws.Looks like it was painted army green at one time, but the paint is very faded and chipped.The lid has a chunk of wood taken out of it.I believe there was once a leather handle, that is now missing but part of the metal that held it in place is still there (at first I thought it was an old nail that was shot through the lid)The inside has something black (like dried black paint) in the one endThe front and back of the box are stenciled: CHEST 49-1-84Measures 12 3/4\' x 4 1/2\" x 8\"
