WWI Battlefield sweetheart brooch pin Armentières-75mm cannon Canon de 75 modèle:
$24.29
I am a WWII sweetheart collector and I am thinning a few things out of my collection. I got this WWI battlefield brooch because it featured the Canon de 75 modèle. This was the pride of the French in WWI and is featured on many sweetheart and battlefield brooches. This one has the cannon and a tiny \"75\" near the top. It is from Armentières. The battle of Armentières was from 13 October – 2 November 1914. The result was inconclusive and there were over 17,000 casualties. These battlefield brooches were made locally and sold to raise a bit of money when sold to the soldiers. They kept them or brought them home to sweethearts. There is a simple C clasp and the pin is missing on the back. This could be repaired but with the age, I never bothered to do this. It measures 3.5 cm across and about 1.8 cm tall. o the top of her banner. Appears to be a base metal or possibly a silver alloy with brass letters spelling out the town. This is an unusual brooch that needs to be in an incredible WWI collection. I stand behind what I sell. If you have a problem with any item, please contact me and we can work it out. Bottom line is I really do want to make my customer happy and thrilled with what they get. I expect payment within 4 days of the close of the sale.
