Time and percussion fuse from a spent WWI US artillery shell. The brass/bronze fuse is marked (BH 18?) Model 1914-15 78-8-65 Lot 4552. The fuse is marked for settings up to 45 seconds with lines for each 1/5 second. The max. outside diameter is approximately 4 7/8 inches. It seems larger than 105 mm. This fuse appears to have survived from a fired shell. The fuse has obviously been impacted. The timer adjustment rings no long move. The shell was likely a air burst shrapnel canister. The metal below the fuse is iron or steel with threads. Total weight is approximately 3.75 pounds. The fuze is totally deactivated and inert.
