About 55 years ago, my parents finally got me a real, orchestral xylophone since I was always trying to make them out of various metals and woods, without much success.In my college (i.e., stupid) years I took it apart, asI have always thought I could improve on the original framework. It has been in a shoe-box ever since.
Confession: I never got going on a new frame, and it has been over 40 years. Funny, since I really enjoyed playing it in high school and college - up until I dismantled it.
Have you got some basic shop skills, and a decent drill press? You could put this nice instrument back into action !
The tone is classic rosewood xylophone - not marimba, not vibraphone, not glockenspiel. Note the "A" bar is stamped "Warranted A -440" . Which should mean something to you musicians.
I will include a bunch of the screw eyes and the cord to mount it. Sorry, my collection of mallets did not make it through the 45 years.Do a bit of research on the layout, but essentially the way I have them on the table is about how they best mount, with the row of #'s bars mounted to just overlap the other bars a bit.

NEW PHOTO ADDED 10/25 After taking a closer look at each bar, I wanted to add another photo, as I do not want anyone to think these pieces are pristine, they do have some appearance issues. For example, there is a pencil or marker line on two of the bars, near the end. A few bars have minor dings. See the photo.
