On offering is an extremely rare early type Ex Yugoslavian military axe from the 1950's. This military axe is so rare and scarce that I've only ever seen few in my life. And this is the one of the few.The leather carriers are somewhat usual find upon the ex yu countries flea markets and online adverts, which means, that the army obviously got them made in great abundance, that they're popping up for sale even the 70 years later in unused condition, but that wasn't the case with - the axe itself. I've never even seen one anywhere, ever. They probably got phased out and abandoned as official equipment too soon, to any significant number could be produced, and those that were, got lost in the time and practical usage over the years. "Like tears in the rain.." ;) By some accounts they've been part of the equipment of MG teams, Sniper teams, and some mechanized troops and engineers of course. Early and obviously better made examples were in plain wood/steel combination with sheath made of thick leather, and later in the '80s-'90s they were painted SMB color with new sheaths made of canvas and thinner leather.
Last photo is of the bulk of axes from the old JNA storage unit.
This is extremely rare military axe, waiting for a perfectionist mil. Axe collector.
