For sale is an impressive 1930\'s Zenith Special Pilot award watch with a great patina dial. Pilot watches were some of the first wrist watches and they were typically based on pocket watch movements, with wide ribbon lugs and the crown moved to 3. Zenith\'s Special pilot is one of the most respected watches from this era. This particular watch is in nice condition, with a truly stunning ghosted patina to the dial. The back has a unique inscription, \"Malou Dohodou 1937 Matador.\" The Malou Dohodou is the Czech name for the Little Entente, which was an alliance that was comprised of Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Romania and existed from 1921 to 1938. They staged air competitions and we can assume that a talented Czech airman won the title of \"Matador\" in 1937. Dial: Black dial with a wide minute track with 5-minute markings and fancy Arabic numerals in gilt. The dial has a pleasant, even faded patina that greatly enhances the vintage original appearance. Cathedral hands are original

Condition: 70% (7.0 of 10): Dial is excellent and case presents nicely but caseback shows heavy wear (which in fact is why chrome watches produced after this have steel backs: because the acids in peoples skin can cause pitting; point in fact I\'ve seen people pit steel watches...just depends on your individual body chemistry), the caseback still clearly shows all engravings and the watch itself works great and functions as it is supposed to
