It's a Martin, So That speaks for it's self. I bought it sight unseen of course. I went to the local music store, and they didn't have one to try. I saw this beauty on Ebay to begin with, so I just bought it. I wanted something to close the sound gap between my well broke in D-35. it arrived, and right out of the box it was perfectly setup. Check it out in action on Youtube. My channel 1jisom. I used it on a few songs, Ride my llama, by Neil Young, and streets of the world, a original by Marco Ferri. It sings out way better than me. The strings are the light gauge that came with it, Still working fine. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who plays fingerstyle, Or anystyle for that reason..
I bought a Martin D21 new in 1964 and have been playing it regularly ever since. It's a beauty, but needs to go into the shop. I saw the SWDGT auction and thought this would make a good backup, expecting it to be something less than the D21. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality (Martin, of course, & made in the U.S.)of the materials & construction and especially the sound. It is different, but certainly as good as the D21. And getting it at a less-than-retail price by winning the auction certainly paid off! More & more often I play in venues where plugging in is an advantage. The Fishman pickup/microphone is great. The only thing I'm not crazy about was the rather gawdy headstock trim, everything else was much better than expected.
