Here's the most important thing I can say about this Yellow-Jacket Micron Vacuum Gauge (#69075). It uses THERMOCOUPLE technology to read vacuum. This is so much better than the cheap and unreliable THERMISTOR technology used by so many other units. Unlike THERMISTOR sensors, a THERMOCOUPLE sensor NEVER NEEDS CALIBRATION (it is permanently calibrated at the factory) nor is it affected by ambient temperature (morning cold followed by noon-day sun) which requires continual re-calibration on THERMISTOR devices which can be frustrating in the middle of drawing a deep vacuum. I do not care if you buy Yellow Jacket or some other brand but If you have the choice between two similar units, pick the one that uses THERMOCOUPLE sensors. I already have two THERMISTOR devices I have used previously which are very troublesome because they are affected by weather and temperature. This new THERMOCOUPLE device is rock steady accurate no matter how long I am out on a job. If I start work on a cold morning I do not need to worry. This matters more than I can say. As for this product from Yellow-Jacket I have nothing but praise. The electronics are integrated into a sturdy plastic case with real hinges instead of squashed plastic hinges that will eventually break. It takes one “D” size battery. Both the coiled cord and the Thermocouple sensor are field replaceable. Comes with accessories like an all metal angled extension to connect the sensor to the system and there is an optional high vacuum ball-valve for around $15.00 which you can buy to protect the sensor from extreme pressures.Read full review

Best, most accurate gauge I've used. Replacement sensors run around $90 which is cheaper than replacing the entire gauge, which you would have to do with most gauges. It is a bit of a battery hog. Definitely not getting 70 hours. Still worth it if you do a lot of refrigeration/AC work. I've had it for 8 years and I'm on the second sensor.

Worked great this past weekend. Installed new split AC unit and vacuumed down to 280 microns. Manual gave 350 microns for this system.
