For a starter mandolin, this was much more than I expected. What is incredible to me is that it stays in tune! After reading how some people have difficulty, I only adjust tuning slightly every few days and usually only 1-2 strings. Sound is great both acoustic or amplified. To get it to current condition I did the following: immediately took off strings and replaced them, lowered the bridge and realigned it (it was 1/4" off), tightened one nut on the mic jack that was a little loose. On the down side mine had a drip,of paint that was on the side of one of the sound hold (sanded off easy) and true the sound holes could have used a little more love in production (on expensive mando's, they would be sanded smoother). Tuners seemed to work well. I paid $95 and free shipping. I must say for the price this looks REALLY nice! Sounds good and is a great place to start if you're not sure if you want to spend $600-$800 on a name brand. You get what you pay for. In this case I'd say I got much, much more than I paid for. Two thumbs up!Read full review

It looks very good hanging in the music room and plays as you would expect for the price. Musical instrument in this price range are not for the pro but this mandolin is fun to play and doesn't sound to bad. On the one I received the tailpiece was offset and the strings do not line up unless the move the bridge over about 1/4 inch off center. The bridge doesn't seem to be that strong. It bends when the strings are tuned and this makes it very hard to keep in tune. You have to re-tune it over and over to get it right. When plugged in the buzzing and background noise is on the high side. Ground everything and it gets better. I had to turn the TONE knob to (0) to stop the buzzing and the high-end notes get cut down a lot, to the point you would want to use a mic instead of electric part of the system. I would only recommend this to anyone that is looking for a mandolin with good sound but not great. It is a nice looking instrument and if your willing to work on it and install a new noiseless pickup, it's a good place to start. I basically rebuild mine to get it the way I wanted it. Looking back on it. I should have bough a better one to start with.Read full review

I got this Savannah Mandolin as a way gateway to learn about how to play this instrument. Thought the action is a bit high - it plays well enough and I am slowly learning - thanks to YouTube how to play this wonderful instrument.

Tuning keys are kind of cheap and strings are also. This makes it hard to keep in tune. I can replace both of them. Other than that, it seems to be a pretty good instrument. Looks nice and plays good when in tune.
