I purchased these to pollish some petrified wood and they worked amazingly. They held up through the uneven surfaces and produced a brilliant glass surface shine. I have finished 4 large specimens and they have worn down just slightly, if you were using on a flatter surface I would assume they could last for a much longer time.

Because the backer is not exactly balanced, the discs wander off center and it causes an unnecessary vibration in the grinder. The price was good, but if I had to do it over again, I'd spend a little more and get something of higher quality. I purchased 2 sets because I had a lot of granite to detail and both backers were the same, off balanced.

Majority of the disc were not balanced. Base attachment had a crack that broke off in the middle of using causing the sand disc to go flying striking a wall and causing damage. Spend some money and buy quality. For a one time deal it may work for you.

For a rookie who wants to save some money by polishing granite, this is the item to tryout for small projects. When this polishing arrived, I attach the polishing pad attachment wheel to the grinder by simply twisting it into the grinder. I started out slowly started from the coarse grid to the finer one or 1000 grid. By the way, I did this dry on the outer edges of my coffee table. It really brings out the shine on my granite table.

These polishing tiles did a good job. Our granite tiles were very smooth but still milky so we ordered some stone enhancer to finish polishing them up. Haven't tried that yet.
