I have owned most major chainsaw brands over the years and now use Echo saws exclusively. I have 5 wooded acres and my Echos start easy, cold or warm, are all day dependable and are priced well with a great warranty. The 500P is light weight for a 50cc saw, cuts and runs great, what more could you ask?

Weight to power ratio is outstanding. Amazingly easy to start - really !! I was curious as to why the 500P cost nearly twice as much until I borrowed one from a buddy. I was suspicious when he handed me his cold saw, asked that I start it, and stood back and smiled. Easy, easy, easy pull and roared on the 2nd pull. He laughed as I said "I gotta get one of these" ! I paid up for a new one and never looked back - worth every dime. If you are looking for a saw that is between the toys and the tanks, .......you gotta get one of these.

Lightweight and powerful, + affordable. I've used it to cut a logging truck load of logs into firewood. (Maple and ironwood) It goes effortlessly through unless you try to force it. I used a 70cc saw for more than 40yrs and it just got heavier every year. This saw with a 18" bar, and full tank of fuel and oil weighs less than 13lbs. Cuts a long time on a tank of gas. Easy starting. I would recommend it to anybody that doesn't need a big heavy saw.

I bought the CS-501 because my CS-590 is getting a bit finicky after 6 years of heavy use. However, the CS-501 is just a bit lacking especially with the 20 inch bar (I'm often cut trees between 16" to 24" in diameter) and isn't a proper replacement for the CS-590. I bought an 18" bar for it and it performs much better with the shorter bar. Pros: Cons: Lightweight Just a tad under-powered for a 20" bar Good price Bar/chain isn't interchangeable with some other Echo models. Starts fairly quickly (2~3 pulls) Not excessively noisy. Side note: This chainsaw (CS-501) uses a .325 pitch bar/chain, the CS-590 uses a 3/8 pitch bar/chain, so they bars and chains aren't interchangeable.

I have used Echo saws since 1985 and this feels like the best of all. Saw started on third pull. Very well built and plenty of power...A real pro saw..
