Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Tube Testers
The Hickok 539c was the top of the line tube tester back in the days and now that I have one, I can see why. This one that I bought on EBAY did have a few problems: intermittent readings at times and very lose pins on the 7 pin tube socket. I took the tester apart and found a few un-soldered wire connections on a couple of the terminals. I don't know if it came that way from the factory or if someone else worked on it, prior to me purchasing it. Re-soldering them totally took away the intermittent problem. I was able to tighten the loose pins on the 7 pin tube socket to get it working temporarily until I replace the socket itself. I was able to do all this myself, since I've been a Certified Electronics Technician on the bench for over 50 years. I did give the tester a thorough inspection with a fine tooth comb and found that everything else was in good shape. Then I tested the whole 539c complete as I have a few hundred tubes, brand new, never used and some weak and shorted tubes also and they all checked out perfectly.Read full review

A very comprehensive book.

The best analog vacuum tube tester with great features.

Great tester, however it’s bulky and time consuming to set up. A calibrated TV-7B or D is much easier to use and likely more appreciated and understood by tube buyers.
